Beyond the Swipe: The Hidden Cost of Modern Dating

Swipe right on this take for a second.

Dating has always been a little terrifying and doing it through apps can be much worse. But somewhere between the profiles, the matches, and the conversations that just quietly fade out - something shifts.

You start wondering if you're too much. Or not enough. Or just... tired.

Experts have given this tiredness a name: Dating app burnout. And believe me - it's more common than most people admit.

What I find most interesting is where it actually comes from. It's not the bad dates. It's the slow erosion of hope that happens when connection gets turned into a numbers game. When you're putting your whole self into a bio and a photo, and waiting to find out if that's enough. And then only to find out that it was a bad investment of time. And then start all over again.

It's a lot to carry. And most people carry it completely alone.

If you've been feeling this way - the fatigue, the self-doubt, the "maybe I'll just take a break” - that's not a reflection of who you are or what you deserve.

Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for yourself is put the phone down, go be with people who already love you, and remember that you are so much more than an algorithm could ever know. Seek help if you have to, but don’t give up, or give in to the negativity.

Swipe left.
