Learning Beyond What's Familiar

It's interesting how something familiar can suddenly make you feel like a beginner.
In my music class today, my teacher introduced a new song.
What was different this time wasn't the song itself. It was the approach.
Instead of focusing on learning the lyrics, he introduced the song through its musical notes.
I thought, "This is going to be a completely different way of learning."
It made me realise how easily we can mistake familiarity for mastery.
Sometimes we think we know something because we recognise it. But being introduced to a different way of learning the same thing reminds us how much more there is to discover.
There's a certain discomfort in that moment. Not because you've done anything wrong, but because you're stepping outside the way you're used to learning.
And perhaps that's a good thing.
Being a beginner again isn't always about starting something new. Sometimes it's about looking at something familiar through a completely different lens.
When was the last time a different way of learning changed how you saw something you thought you already understood?
